Sunday saw the second annual Edgbaston Fun Run. With Harborne High Street closed for the carnival, the day offers a brilliant opportunity to stage a constituency fun run down the High Street before the crowds have gathered and while the stall holders are setting up.
This year there were four classes, starting from 9.45am – three age ranges for children and teenagers, followed by a fourth family class.
Dozens of people took part in the races which were set off from near the petrol station by Council Leader and Harborne Councillor Mike Whitby. I joined Cllrs John Alden and Peter Hollingworth outside The Green Man (at the other end of the High Street) to hand out the medals to the finishers. We are pictured with the Carnival’s founder, Ron Hill.
