Skipping Over To See The Brownies In Bartley Green

Today Brownie packs from Quinton and Bartley Green enjoyed a day out on the sports field behind the Woodgate Valley Country Park Visitor Centre in Bartley Green. I was invited along by Keely Huxtable (pictured), a guider with a local Brownie pack who is also the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the neighbouring Northfield seat.

The girls were divided into groups and took part in various activities including circus skills, football skills, athletics races, and skipping games. The event was supported by Bartley Green Councillors through their ward Community Chest money.

People from the Ice Gym at Northfield Leisure Centre were also on hand to show off some of the gym equipment and talk about healthy exercise and healthy eating with the girls.

The circus skills looked a bit too difficult for me, but I did have a go at the skipping – both holding the large rope and joining in one of the games with the girls. However I have to admit, my skipping skills are not what they used to be!
