Friday was a typically busy day. I attended a Council Scrutiny Committee meeting in the morning and the King Edward’s High School Question Time event in the afternoon (which I posted about on Friday). Either side of that, I was at Christmas parties in the constituency.
The first party was Calthorpe Estates’s Christmas get together in their new Calthorpe House building on Calthorpe Road. Former England cricketer Dennis Amiss was the guest speaker, and a good time was had by all.
After the KEHS Question Time, I drove across the constituency to another party I’d been invited to – at King Edward Five Ways School in Bartley Green. This time the occasion was the Pangaea Christmas Party which the sixth form students arranged for local elderly people.
Again it was clear a good time was had by all. By the time I arrived, the dancing was in full swing. It was fantastic to watch an extremely sprightly pensioner doing such a fantastic routine to Abba’s Mama Mia! that a number of students fell into line and copied her!
All in all, a great party which really brings together people of different ages. Congratulations to everyone involved in the organisation of it.
