Celebrating 60 Years Of The Indian Republic

On Sunday evening, I was invited by the High Commissioner of India to the ICC in Birmingham to celebrate 60 years of the Indian Republic.

The event was a performance of  “So Many Journeys”  – Indian Classical Dance in both its traditional and contemporary forms, performed by Geeta Chandran and the Natya Vriksha Dance Company.

The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and a welcome address. A number of Councillors and Parliamentary Candidates were present including Ken Wood (Wolverhampton South East PPC) pictured.Feb 2010 022

So Many Journeys has been performed around the country as part of a tour celebrating 60 years of the Indian Republic – starting at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London last Wednesday and finishing in Liverpool on Saturday.

Many thanks to the organisers for inviting me.
