Proposed Aldi Store In Edgbaston Ward

I was recently contacted on behalf of Aldi stores to tell me about proposals to site an Aldi neighbourhood discount food store on the Edgbaston Mill site, adjacent to Edgbaston Road but taking access from The Ashes (the road in front of The Hemisphere).

When outline planning permission was granted for this site in 2003,  it included food and non-food retailing.

Aldi have sent me a newsletter which has also been distributed to 850 residents  in the area to keep them informed of the proposals. The proposed retail area of the store would be 990 square metres and there would be 77 car parking spaces, including 6 disabled and 4 parent and child spaces, together with cycle spaces.
