Today, the final day of the half term holiday, Harborne Swimming Pool (built in 1923) closed its doors for the last time after a long and successful campaign to rebuild the pool on its current site.
The next week will be taken up with emptying the water out of the pool and removing fixtures and fittings from the buildng ahead of demolition. Much of the gym equipment has already been removed. Some has gone to Harborne Hill School and some to the Quinborne Centre where the gyms will re-open in their temporary home in two weeks time.
A week tomorrow, the keys will be handed over to the contractors.
