Edgbaston's Got Talent!

Last night I attended the final of this year’s Edgbaston’s Got Talent! young people’s Talent Show, organised by the Council’s Edgbaston Constituency Team and I opened the evening by welcoming everyone along. It was great to see the hall packed with people who had come to watch local youngsters perform.

The twelve finalists had been chosen from four heats (one in each ward) and what a treat of talent we had! There were singers, dancers, a pianist, and even a pair of ballroom dancers – Strictly Come Dancing meets Edgbaston’s Got Talent!

It was a great evening. Staged at Bartley Green School on Adams Hill, there was a brilliant backdrop of glittering stars, professional music,  and judges who gave their comments to the performers after each act (just like on TV!).

Leading the judges was our constituency Young People’s Champion, Cllr Bruce Lines, who made the presentations on stage at the end of the evening.

The overall winner was powerful vocalist Ashley Reid, from the over 12s section. If you missed the event and want to see some of Edgbaston’s young stars, some of them will be performing at this year’s Edgbaston Arts Showcase which will be staged at Four Dwellings Community Leisure Centre in Quinton on Saturday March 27th from 2.00-4.30.
