This morning was the monthly meeting of Birmingham City Council’s Co-ordinating Overview and Scrutiny Committee. The Conservative and Lib-Dem members of this committee are the Chairmen of the various Scrutiny committees, plus there are several Labour members as well.
This morning it was the Leader of the Council’s annual visit to the committee. He outlined the various achievments of the Council, mentioning our City of Culture bid, noting various accolades and awards the city has won, and outlining the work being done on international relations and plans to attract inward investment.
And then he unveiled the MG6 – the latest car to be assembled in Birmingham (at Longbridge) and which will be launched this autumn. Not a life size model of the car I hasten to add (how would that have fitted in rooms 3 & 4!) but a model of the vehicle – which was taken out of a box and passed around the committee members while the gentlemen of the press looked on!
