Today the police invited me along to the opening of their Christmas community shop in Harborne High Street – where a number of Edgbaston Ward residents do their shopping. The reason I was invited was because I’m the Councillor rep on our constituency’s Local Delivery Group and at the last meeting was able to give the police the good news that Harborne Councillors would fund the rates bill for the temporary shop. Harborne Councillor, John Alden, was also there today and a representative from Waitrose who are another sponsor of the scheme.
Police will be on hand at the community shop to give advice on protecting your home and ensuring your car is not a target for thieves. Members of the public can also take advantage of free property marking and various crime prevention items, and can get informaton about their local Neighbourhood Watch.
The shop is located at 142 Harborne High Street (opposite Station Road) and will be open from 9.00am-6.00pm Monday to Saturday until the end of December.
