Earlier this week I went to Edgwood Court, a sheltered elderly person’s development in Bellis Street, where an artist was in residence helping residents to create a mosaic of the Waterworks Estate area.
The picture is framed by Tolkein’s two towers – Perrott’s Folly and the Waterworks Tower, and there are scenes from around the estate in the middle of the picture.
School children, residents, staff from Karis, and I (as a Local Councillor) were among the people who added some stones to the mosaic during the three days the work was in progress.
My contribution was some blue and white mosaics to form a piece of sky beside a tree in the Hickman Gardens piece of the picture.
A great piece of community art work! I look forward to seeing the completed mosaic on display!
