Objecting To Proposed Change Of Polling Station

Last week I had notification from the Elections Office that they were proposing to change the Polling Station which serves the Roman Way Estate.

At the moment, a temporary hut is hired in to serve as a Polling Station for the area. It is not ideal, but at least it is on the estate. The Elections Office’s proposal was to instead site the Polling Station at Watermill School in Reservoir Road.

Birmingham Polling Station

I objected most strongly to the Elections  Office about this, on several grounds. Watermill School is quite a long walk from the estate, and it is across a busy dual carriageway which is made even more dangerous by the large number of cars parked on the road for the nearby hospital.

Further, Watermill School is not in Edgbaston Ward – it is not even in Edgbaston Constituency. It is in Selly Oak and I think this will be confusing.

I have therefore made some alternative suggestions to the Elections Office which they are now looking at.
