Accession Day Celebration

Today I was invited to a special Accession Day Service at St Augustine’s Church in Lyttelton Road, to mark the 60th anniversary tomorrow of Her Majesty’s accession to the throne.

It was a lovely service and afterwards there was a treasure hunt for the children, with 60 “diamonds” hidden around the church for them to find, while the adults watched the Lord Mayor of Birmingham unveil a board in the Narthex, listing all the St Augustine’s Church Wardens since before Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, while sipping pink champagne.

A lovely start to this year’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations!
