I have had confirmation from the local Police Inspector today that Edgbaston Police Station is indeed going to close and the site will be sold.
Having an elected Police Commissioner means we know exactly who to blame for such decisions now – and it is Labour. The Labour candidate won the election in our region and promptly employed another Labour Councillor as his highly paid deputy.
Now he announces lack of funds mean three Birmingham police stations are to go – in Edgbaston, Aston and Steelhouse Lane (which is sensibly positioned beside the Law Courts) in the city centre. He apparently wants the city centre police to move into Lloyd House (where he has his office) instead.
I think he’s got his priorities wrong.
