An interesting Edgbaston Ward meeting at the Church of the Redeemer on Wednesday night, when several people from the local Labour Party turned up to defend wheelie bins. I know they were from the Labour Party because they clearly wrote on the signing in sheet that they represented the Labour Party.
I’m presuming (though of course I could be wrong) that someone had asked them to attend because they didn’t think they could rely on unaffiliated members of the public to say nice things about wheelie bins – and if that is so, on that score they were absolutely right!
We also had a presentation about the latest plans for the Sainsbury development just over the border in Selly Oak, and there were the usual sections for petitions, Community Chest allocations and items of local concern from members of the public. The next Edgbaston Ward meeting is due in September.
