It’s one year ago today that Morrisons super store opened at Five Ways in Edgbaston, so a great day to be invited there by the store’s Community Relations Manager, Nasser Khan, for a store tour and to hear about the work they are doing in the community.
The Woodview Oasis Academy School has already visited, Busy Bees Nursery has a Morrisons play shop at their nursery, and a Christmas card competition for school children is being arranged.
My store tour was fascinating – seeing behind the scenes in the dry cleaner’s, cold store and the warehouse, and hearing at first hand from several members of staff about how the bakery, pizza, butcher’s and fishmonger’s departments work. (That’s an octopus the fishmonger is showing me in the picture!)
There’s also a separate flower shop with a great display of Hallowe’en pumpkins, plus fireworks are on sale at the store – you leave your order on the way in, and collect them on your way out.
All in all, a fascinating insight into how an Edgbaston business works. Thanks to everyone for making my visit so interesting, and Happy Birthday Morrisons!
