KEHS Students’ Manifesto For Birmingham

On Thursday I paid my second visit of the academic year to King Edward’s High School for Girls in Edgbaston Park Road.

The girls were taking part in a competition to present their Manifesto for Birmingham. Each group presented their ideas for transportation, children’s services, rubbish collection, and sport and leisure, and tried to persuade everyone present to vote for them. I was one of the panel asking the groups questions at the end of their presentations. Most of the groups had also produced election leaflets explaining their ideas.

At the end of the afternoon ballot papers were given out, and we all filled them in and put them in a ballot box – just like the real thing. The result was due to be announced in assembly the next day.

A great afternoon and it was really impressive to see the work each group had put in to producing their “manifesto for Birmingham”.
